- Counselling -
As a counsellor I am down to earth, culturally sensitive and client centred. I strive to create open and collaborative relationships that support meaningful change. I also aim to reframe difficult times as a natural part of being human, and as things that we can learn and grow from, rather than things that have to define or limit us.

I take a pluralistic approach to counselling which may include:

-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
-
Person Centred Therapy
-
Creative and Expressive Approaches
-
Psycho Education
-
Gestalt Therapy
-
Motivational Interviewing

i am also trained in the ASSYST (acute stress syndrome stabilisation) intervention, supporting communities who have recently experienced a traumatic event to reduce or eliminate intrusive trauma symptoms by gently regulating the autonomic nervous system. ASSYST provides an intervention grounded in EMDR's adaptive integration processing model, without needing the full EMDR protocol.

I can support a wide range of presenting issues. I have a particular interest in:

-
Trauma
-
Emotional regulation
-
Interpersonal issues
-
Relationship issues
-
Stress and anger management
-
Neuro-diversity
-
Self-discovery and growth

Above all, research suggests that the therapeutic relationship and related relational factors provide up to 70% of the success in counselling. Therefore, along with providing tools, coping strategies and other things you might typically associate with counselling, I also place high attention on the therapeutic relationship and building rapport, trust and relatability.
Session are 50-60 minutes in length. Counselling is $100.00 per session and you will be sent an invoice after our session. I ask for payment within 3 days of our session unless other arrangements have been made.

Funding options
I am registered with Work and Income (WINZ), Victim Support, Abuse in State Care and the Ministry of Social Development, which can all be potential sources of funding for counselling. If you think that this applies to you, please contact me for more information.
Cancellation policy
Please let me know at least 24 hours before our session if you intend to cancel. I reserve the right to charge 50% of our session fee otherwise. This is because I pay a fee in advance to book my counselling room, and because I spend time before our session doing admin work and planning to ensure that the session I have with you, is relevant and helpful.

Of course I understand that extenuating circumstances can occur, and this will be considered before charging a cancellation fee if necessary.
